Autumn Leaves

Changing colors, dropping temperatures, pumpkin spice lattes: do these mainstays of Fall fill your heart with warmth — or with dread?

Being in a tropical country, where the sun and rain are the mainstay of weather forecast options, it is hard to relate to Autumn. Winter and Spring will be even more remote. Summer is highly relatable but I think the humidity in Singapore is hard to beat.

I have not been able to appreciate the heat and humidity of this weather since it started to hit 34 degrees C more constantly the past few years, no thanks to global warming. It has filled me with dread and perspiration. Dread is because it’s almost all year round.

The only change in season if I may call it so, will be the monsoon rain which comes around significantly towards the end of the year. We call it torrential rain but it is not a typhoon or major storm, just loads of rain, thunder and lightning. I sort of like the rainy season if I don’t get caught in it. It’s cooler and ironically, warms my heart.
