Trio No. 3

It was not just a dark night but “It was a dark and stormy night.”, the famous phrase or opener by Snoopy, the great writer. Yes, you heard it right. The inspiration came from a dog, a comic strip actually, that had impacted my life since childhood giving me loads of laughter and joy till today.

His character was versatile, human and so hilarious that you cannot help but love him and all the characters that surrounded him. Yes, he brought tears of joy and quite often made me rush to raid the fridge for some snacks or a cool drink just to rush back to reading the comic books or strips of Snoopy and his gang.

The late Charles M. Schulz was the creator of Peanuts, a cartoon series involving several quirky and loveable characters where the key ones would be Charlie Brown with Snoopy and Woodstock, and the rest of the gang like Sally, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Peppermint Patty and so on. I couldn’t understand the fixation of Linus on the Great Pumpkin and later on as Singapore gets more westernised, I realised it had to do with Halloween. No wonder….

Snoopy as usual, is just plain hilarious!

Trio No. 3 – DP – Today you can write about anything, in whatever genre or form, but your post must mention a dark night, your fridge, and tears (of joy or sadness; your call). Feel free to switch one ingredient if you have to.

  1. How we looked forward to the annual showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin . . .!” I always felt so sorry for CB and Linus at the end, though–Snoopy, on the other hand, was eternally cool 🙂
