Our free-write is back by popular demand: today, write about anything — but you must write for exactly ten minutes, no more, no less.
I planned to give ten minutes of silence and towards the end write a sentence to say, “This was all I could do.” Then I realised I was kidding myself.
It must be I needed direction or a goal to be able to write something. I was not comfortable to be told to just write any ol’ thing that comes to my mind for ten minutes. It would also be painful for those who read it. Earlier on, my mind was on what to write, what to eat, which bus to take, whether to listen to the radio or read a book or both. It was all within a minute or two.
From this exercise, I learned that my Ready takes too long, much longer than the Set and obviously, the best and shortest part is, Done.
